The range and diversity of Audra's work in her career as an artist is second to none. Audra has been awarded the Tony Awards six times, as well as two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award. Her portrayal as Billie Holiday at Emerson's Bar & Grill in the show, which also served to launch the career of her Olivier Award nominated debut on the London's West End in 2017, earned her six Tony Awards. She also set the record for the most awards won by an actor. McDonald's theater credits also includes The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (99) Henry IV (2007) 110 in the Shade (2008) Twelfth (2009) The Twelfth, the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park premiere, which was the first time she performed in Shuffle Along or the Making of the Musical sensation of 1921 as well as the series That Followed (2017) Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune (2018) as well as Ohio State Murders 2023. McDonald made her television debut with the award-winning Peabody Award-winning CBS drama Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters' First Hundred years. The Bite was a six episode pandemic themed drama produced through Spectrum Originals in collaboration with CBS Studios. McDonald played U.S. prosecutor Liz Lawrence, a character she first played in the CBS drama The Good Wife legal drama in the year 2009. It was her turn to reprise the role in 2018, as season main character Liz Reddick in Paramount+'s The Good Fight. As a result of her role, McDonald received three Critics Choice Award nominees. She currently guest-stars in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
